Abstract

Smithia agharkarii Hemadri, a new taxon, was erected aegregating it from the most allied Smithia bigemina Dalz. And allied S.blanda Var. racemoss Baker and S.hirsuta Dalz. Based on (a) unequal pair of bracteoles (b) larqer Joints of fruits. After a critial analysis of these characters for their taxonomic reliability on account of the study of, live as well as dried specimens of the above Smithia complex It was Concluded that these characters Were of highly Intergrading nature among the population of Smithia and they collectively or separately were not even found to merit a variety status. S.agharkarii Hemadri is, thus, reduced here to the synonym of S. bigemina Dalz.
