A Contribution to the Flora of Tirupati Hills

Abstract

The paper lists 467 species of plants collected in the Tirupati Hills during four days stay of the authors in the hills in October, 1960. Of these 429 species belong to Dicotyledons, 24 species to Monocotyledons, 2 species to Gymnosperms and 12 species to Pteridophytes. Of the 429 species of Dicotyledons listed here, 8 species are new records to the Deccan region. The time at. Which the plants were collected in the Tirupati Hills, majority of the Angiosperms were in flowering. The flower colour is given to the plants seen in flowering in the hills. This is the first attempt at listing the plants of the Tirupati Hills.
