Results on pulping of date palm (Phoenix dactyliferaL.) rachis and leaflets by sulphate process are recorded. The results indicate that the average fibre length of rachis is 1.26 mm and of leaflets is 1.00 mm. The rachis give a good yield of pulp and satisfactory strength properties. The leaflets give low pulp yield. The rachis and the leaflets could be pulped together. The palm leaves tested were from Iraq.Downloads
