Tamil Nadu Tea Plantation Corporation Limited (a Government of Tamil Nadu Enterprise)

Abstract

The Tamil Nadu Tea Plantation Corporation Limited (TANTEA) a Government of Tamil Nadu Enterprise under the administrative control of the Tamil Nadu Forest Department has achieved the primary objective of rehabilitation and resettlement of Sri Lanka repatriates. Under its management, tea husbandry proved to be a highly productive and economic land use. The plantations helped in conservation of soil and water and improving the ecology. The Corporation contributes considerable revenue to the Forest Department of Tamil Nadu. A loss making Government Cincbona Department has been recently amalgamated with TANTEA and further planting in these areas is in progress.
