Firewood is usually the major source of energy for cooking and heating. Out of all the fuels more than 80 per cent of fuel comes from forests in rural India. Therefore, in order to meet out the fuel wood demand vast destruction and cutting of forests has taken place. It is, therefore, necessary to develop some alternative sources which may supply firewood. Social forestry and farm forestry can be a good source in this direction The present study was conducted in the Chamma block, Tebri-Garbwal district (U.P.). The forest area is 20.790 hectares which is 73.10 per cent of total geographical area of the block. The whole Chamma block has been divided into tbree categories depending upon altitude i.e., (i) high altitude, (ii) middle altitude and (iii) low altitude. Selection of households was done by using two stage random sampling. Primary as well as secondary data were collected for the present study. For attaining the first objective simple tabular frame-work was used. For second and third objectives linear programming technique and simple arithmetic calculations were used respectively.Downloads
