Meagre per capita forest area, wide gap between demand and supply position Decessitate new approaches to forostry. Traditional forestry practices adopted and advocated wider spacing presuming that with wider spacing, more favourable conditions will be available to plants, This concept needed change in view of development of the technologies in the field of forestry. Moreover even a small farmer has to be self-sufficient in his requirements of small timber and fuelwood. The present paper gives a model of plantation suitable for adoption by small and marginal farmers who cannot wait for longer gestation period in tree farming The advantages of raising high density plantation, the pattern of raising it in 0.4 ha, likely expenditure required, loan required by smali and marginal farmers, and repayment schedule of loans by farmers in need or not in need of subsistance allowance has beeu discussed in this paper.Downloads
