Some Novel Tea Substitutes from Kashmir

Abstract

From the high altitudes of Jammu and Kashmir State three plants have been collected which are used as substitutes for the conventional tea plant -Camellia sinensis (Linn.) O. Kuntze. The beverage is prepared from the roots of Polvgonum amplexicaule D. Don, and Platanus orientalis Linn,; and entire plant, of Balanoiphora involucrata Hook. f. & Thoms.
