Abstract

Nail Is an economical connecting element capable of bearing strrsses in light and medium timber roof trusses, built-up beams and columns, etc. For successful engineering designs, laboratory investigations on nailed components are being pursued. Lateral nail strength results of 5 mm dia. Plain shanked diamond pointed nails for Toona cilia (Toon) belonging to "Ordinary group" of strength classification of structural timbers is reported in this paper.
