Abstract

The experiment was carried out to study the suitability of Lantana camara particles for making cement bonded particle boards. Portland cement was used as a sizing agent. The amount of Lantana particles was taken on air-dry basis. Different proportion of Cement/Lantana particle ratios 2.0:1.0, 2.5:1.0, and 3.0:1.0 were used. 2% of Sodium silicate (Na2SiO3 ) and 2% Aluminum sulfate (Al2(So4)3)were used to prevent hydration and increase the rate of cement setting. 28Kg/cm2 pressure were used for preparation of 10mm thick board. It was observed that physical properties of the board decreases with increase in cement: lantana particle ratio and the mechanical properties of the board increases with increase in cement: lantana particle ratio.
