Bionomics of the Twig Borer Diboma procera Pascoe (Lamiidae : Coleoptera)

Abstract

Diboma procera Pascoe was recorded as twig borer of Ailanthuso excelsa in Ganjerban plantations of Siwalik Forest Division. The larva bores the young twigs of Ailanthus having a maximum girth of 15 cm. Beetle is elongate greyish brown; egg is dirty white and 2 mm long; larva is creamy white 25 mm in length, cylindrical; pupa is dull white and 20 mm long, Beetle oviposits singly, incubation period ranges from 5-7 days, larval period varies from 9-10 months and pupal period is 13-18 days. Life cycle is annual.
