Abstract

The effect of water stress induced by application of polyethylene glycol 6000 during seed germination and seedling growth of Oroxy/um indicum (l.) Vent. was analyzed in present paper. The various osmotic potentials generated (-3, -5, -7.5 and -10 bars) showed significant decrease in germination percentage. At the osmotic potential of -7.5 and -10 bars, no germination takes place. All the seedling growth parameters also showed inhibition with increase in osmotic potential.
