Abstract

Givotia rottleriformis is a species belongs to the family Euphorbiaceae. The species has high medicinal properties as the bark and seed powders are known to have several phenolic compounds that display broad range of biological activity including anti-rheumatism, anti-psoriasis, and antiinflammatory. A part from this, the wood of G. rottleriformis is used in making various handicraft products in the Kondapalli, Nirmal, and Kinnal handicraft clusters. The purpose of this review is to highlight important information available in the literature on medicinal importance, utilization of the plant wood in making various handicraft products and various efforts made in breaking the barriers in seed germination techniques. This review may also encourage the researchers exploring its seed germination potential, and tree improvement program for growing the species in agroforestry or farm land to overcome the shortage of the species.
