The Bamboo Forests of Raigarh State

Contains a description of the bamboo forests of Raigarh state in the Eastern states Agency, and discusses problems connected with their management. The quality of bamboo is rather poor, and the area exploited annually is about 35,000 acres and the possible yield about 20,000 tons of air-dry bamboos. Felling cycle is four years and the system of working monopoly-cum-royalty. The bulk Df the bamboo is exported to paper mills at Ib. Raniganj and Titagarh. The main sources of damage are fire and grazing.Downloads
