Rain Tree as Kusumi Lac Host-an Interim Report

The scope for the rain tree to be utilised as a minor host for kusumi lac is stated, with silvicultural particulars about the species. The experience gained in the cultivation of kusumi lac on 29 rain trees in Cumbum range, Madurai district, during the last three years is discussed and a cycle suggested for the various operations connected with the cultivation of lac. The scope of lac cultivation on rain trees found outside the forests is also indicated, besides the desirability of planting this quick growing species on a large scale.Downloads
