Indian Forestry and the Commonwealth

Abstract

India was the first of the Commonwealth Countries to initiate scientiflc forestry. Others followed, and made rapid progress. Commonealth ties have been of mutual benefit for the constituent nations. This is especially so in forestry, in spite of the diversity of conditions obtaining in this far-flung group of countries. The U.N.O. has brought many countries of the World together since the end of the last world war. But the Commonwealth bonds are older still, and should be made progressively stronger in order to counteract the growing separatist tendencies in the world at present. In forestry especially, India has much to gain from co-operation within the Commonwealth. And co-operation in this sphere would lead to a better understanding in general between the various nation.
