Abstract

The aged seeds of Bamboo (Dendrocalamus hamiltonii L Munro) were treated with Indole-3-Butyric Acid (IBA) and GibbereIlins (GA3), individually and in combination of various concentrations for 2 hours with an aim to stimulate germination and seedling growth. The germination percent, emergence period and subsequent seedling growth as root and shoot length, internode length and number of leaves was improved significantly over the control by various pre-treatments. The combination of both hormones proved to be more effective than their individual application.
