Use of computers in forestry is at present mainly limited to scientific research. The scope for computer programme application in forestry management is however quite promising which requires development of user friendly customised software. Forest products harvesting and marketing demand analysis of silvicultural and market information for which systematic database need to be built up. Forest managers can periodically review and synthesis such databases to plan for finance, logistics and more importantly to economise the expenditure. A computer programme, 'Kendumod' was developed to analyse the costs and profit of Tendu trading in Orissa. it used the time series data to forecast the future costs and profit from Tendu leaf trading.Downloads
