Remote Sensing as Evidence in Court Cases

Abstract

Encroachment of forest areas is a big problem facing the forests in India. Remote sensing has helped in detection of these encroached areas in a very effective manner. Encroachment in Sanjay Gandhi National Park , Borivali , Bombay has been mapped with the help of remote sensing and this information was produced as evidence in the Bombay High Court. On the basis of this evidence the Hon'ble High Court passed judgement against encroachers.
