Problems of salinity, alkalinity and water logging are the areas of major concern threatening the very existence of mankind. These problems are well pronounced in arid and semi-arid regions, where the canal command areas are increasingly being rendered barren. The engineering solutions like ground water pumping and surface drainage deployed for control of salinity and water logging are too expensive. The best way can be the effective utilization of biological systems i.e. tree plantations in irrigation command areas for the control of salinity and water logging.Downloads
