The present study involves in-vitro clonal propagation of Tylophora indica (Burm.f.) Merrill through axillary bud sprouting and subsequent plant regeneration. Axillary shoot proliferation was obtained using nodal segments as explants. Cultures were established on MS medium supplemented with BAP and Kn (0.5·3.0mg/l) individually and in combination with NAA (0.1 and 0.5 mg/l) and regular sub-culturing was carried out in BAP (1.0 mg/l) at periodic intervals of 25 days. Maximum number of shoots developed after 30 and 60 days was registered as 2.63±0.23 and 4.63±0.26, in MS medium supplemented with 1.0 mg/l BAP and 0.1 mg/l NAA. Best rooting was observed in ½ strength MS medium having 0.5 mg/l IBA with maximum number of roots per shoot 2.18±0.22 in 30 days and 3.27±0.42 in 60 days with root length 0.62±0.07cm and 8.22±0.15cm in30 and 60 days respectively. The plantlets were successfully hardened and transferred to earthen pots.Downloads
