Provenance trials in Eucalyptus camaldulensis were carried-out in drier tracts of Shimoga district by the Mysore Paper Mills Ltd., Shimoga. These are to find out suitable and superior provenances in Eucalyptus camaldulensis as a replacement for Eucalyptus hyhrids 14 provenances were tried in the trial at two different locations. Of the provenances tested in the trials, Emu creek, Petford. QLD, Irvine bank, QLD, Gibb river, WA, and Katherine, NT had promising growth rates under prevailing climatic and site conditions. However the performance of Eucalyptus hybrid tried as a control is also satiafactory. Results of these trails indicate that the performance of E. camnlduleflsis provenances varies considerably with the site and climatic conditions.
