Past and present trends of management of these forests have been described with particular refarance to the observations made by the author, as Working Plan Offlcer, In Arunachal Pradesh. Regeneration of the principal species, though patchy, Is found before any felllngs are clone In these forests. However, large openings have to be avoided to guard against invasion of Mlkania scandens. The lower canopy of the forest has to be gradually lifted to tree the regeneration of shade bearers and also to induce regeneration of more light demanding species.
