Objectives and Activities of the Gujarat State Forest Development Corporation Ltd.

Abstract

The paper highlights important activities of Gujarat State Forest Development Corporation Ltd. which was established in August, 1976 with the objectives to exploit and improve forest resources scientifically and to eliminate middlemen. Main activities are MFP collection and marketing, Vanil Udyog, plantation projects, Charcoal making and others. The main aim has been to provide employment opportunities to the tribal and rural population which are below poverty line and to improve their living standard.
