There has been no succesful reintroduction programme for endangered species of pheasants till now. The main problems have been a lack of detailed knowledge on the basic ecology and habitat requirements of the species to be released so that they have been released in unsuitable sites, and inadequate posts release monitoring of the survival of the birds. These shortcomings are discussed.Downloads
