The genus Melocanna is distributed in Bangladesh, Burma and India, and consists of two species viz. M. humilis Kurz and M. baccifera (Roxb.) Kurz. The name of the Burmese species M humilis was preoccupied for a species of Cochin-China. Therefore, Parkinson renamed the Burmese species as Melocanna arundina Parker which is the correct name.Downloads
