The physical and mechanical properties of ten exotic timber species, tested from some localilies of the country, have been reported. From the general analysis of the data, it would appear that most of the exotic species under discussion are weak in strength properties as compared to the average Indian species, Tectona grandis (teak) it is suggested that all exotic timbers, which are being grown in the country, should be subjected to exhaustive testing and evaluation for drawing firm conclusions about their rational utiliation for industrial applications.Downloads
