Relationships among Seed Weight and Various Growth Factors in Pinus oocarpa Schiede seedlings

Observations on the relative growth performance of seedlings over a 100 day period suggested strong relationships of seed weight with several growth factors in the early development of some selected provenances of Pinus oocarpa Schiede. Significant degrees of correlations of seed weight with height, dry weight, root collar diameter and root length of the seedling were apparent. Presumably seed weight can be used as a parameter for predicting seedling growth rates in nursery phase of development and for a short period in field establishment too. Relationships were found to exist in the seeds of different geographical areas.Downloads
