Abstract

Ecological monitoring serves as a tool in understanding the patterns of biodiversity and plays a vital role in conservation planning. Aves, in this regard provide a better understanding in assessing the habitat quality as they are known to utilize myriad habitats and are sensitive to slight variations in the environment. The River Sindh is one of the major tributary of the River Jehlum; despite being rich in biodiversity, there has not been a comprehensive study about its avifauna. Detailed field surveys, carried out during 2017-2020, documented a total of 120 bird species belonging to 44 different families along the riverine area. The present study generated a baseline data that may be useful for conservation planning and management of biodiversity of the area.
