Abstract

The paper deals with the floral diversity of Thoranamalai hills of Tenkasi district, Tamil Nadu. In the present study, 428 taxa belonging to 264 genera, represented 69 families were recorded. Out of 428 species, herbs were predominant followed by trees, shrubs, grasses and climbers. The families with the greatest number of species included Poaceae (54 species), Fabaceae (38 species), Euphorbiaceae (27 species), Rubiaceae (20 species), Malvaceae (18 species) and Acanthaceae (18 species) and represent over 41% of the species collected.
