Abstract

The present study was carried out in the central forest nursery of Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya during 2021-22 to investigate the impact of variation in number of nodes (0, 2, 4 and 6) at the areal part of the offset in Bambusa nutans and Bambusa balcooa with respect to its growth and establishment. The experiment was laid out with factorial Randomized Block Design. The study revailed that the offset with 6 nodes showed significantly (p=0.05) maximum sprouting percentage (100.00%), survival percentage (88.33%), sprouts length (336.67 cm), collar diameter (3.32cm), number of nodes per sprout (19.70), number of sprouts per offset (15.70), number of leaves per offset (2562.70), leaf area (54770.21 cm2) and root length (64.32 cm) and lowest rhizome genesis period (129.50 days). Among the species, B. balcooa showed better performance over B. nutans.
