The Genus Smrthea Seem. in India

The note is a revision of the genus Smythea in India. The plant known as Smythea calpicarpa Kurz in the Fl. Brit. India and Fl. Assam is allied to Ventilago and was, therefore, transferred to the genus Ventilago in my earlier paper. Parkinson 1031 from Havelock Island, Andamans, is labelled Smythea calpicarpa Kurz; it is Smythea pacifica Seem. The correct name of this plant is Smythea lanceata (Tulasne) Summerhayes. Smythea lanceata is not included in Hooker's Flora of British India or in any of the local or regional floras and is, therefore, presented here as a new record for India.Downloads
