Laboratory scale experiments on pulping of Anogeissus lotifolia by sulphate process are described. The wood had 18.5 per cent Pentosan content, 21.9 per cent lignin content and 74.0 per cent holocellulose. The average fibre length was 1.179 mm. and average fibre diameter was 0.0144 mm. At screened yield of 44 per cent, a breaking length of 7.34 km., burst factor of 42.1 and tear factor of 97.5 were obtained. The bleachability of the pulp was satisfactory and by applying 12 per cent total chiorine in CEHH sequence a brightness of 75 EEL having satisfactory strength properties of standard were obtained.Downloads
