Incidents of wild animals straying into human habitations have increased during the last decade and this poses a challenge to managers in mitigating conflict. One such incident is described in this paper, where a wild male elephant from Rajaji National Park strayed into Haridwar town. Of the various methods commonly employed for managing such situations, chemical restraint proved to be an effective technique for restraining the animal and relocating it into its natural habitat. The paper presents a detailed account of this successful procedure and relocation of the wild elephant in its natural habitat.Downloads
