Abstract

Grewia optiva is an agroforestry tree species for sub-Himalayan region due to its fodder, fuel and fibre importance. A study was carried out to find out the effects of various pre-sowing treatments on seed germination of G optiva. Seed were treated with cold water, hot water, Cone. H2So4, and were mechanically scarified. It was found that seeds soaked in hot water for 24 hrs gafe quick germination as well as better germination percentage (49 66%) in comparison to other treatments.
