Abstract

Soda-semichemical pulps were prepared from Eupatorium odoratum with different concentrations of caustic soda and then giving one refiner pass at 5 mils. Standard sheets were prepared after heating and were tested for strength properties in each case. It was found tbat cooking by 6% NaOH and subsequent refining at 5 mils could give a pulp of 60% yield with adequate strength properties required for cheap grade packing papers.
