It can be ascertained that recognition of rights 'other than humans' regarding environment has not been given the attention it deserves. The paper with its theoretical approach stresses that why there is a need for juristic personhood to environment. In this article, the authors discuss various case laws along with distinguished streams like indigenous stream, ethical stream, scientific stream and juridical stream from around the world that highlight the evolution of juristic personhood over time. Further, it demonstrates with its analysis that why the world has so far not brought any substantial change in its anthropocentric legislation, where it asserts that it needs to be changed to an eco-centric dimension because the legal arena of juristic personhood will be an effective maneuver as it conceptually resonates with an animistic world view and relational ontologies to save the drowning nature from atrocities.References

Stokes (1992), Wheen and Hayward (2012). The Treaty of Waitangi was signed in New Zealand in 1840 by
representatives of the British Crown and over 500 MÄori chiefs. Widely viewed as New Zealand's founding document, conflicting English and MÄori versions have led to ongoing disagreements over governance and ownership of land and resources in New Zealand (Stokes, 1992). In cases where the Crown has been found to have contravened the principles of the Treaty since 1840, settlement agreements, such as that which resulted in the Te Awa Tupua (Whanganui River Claims Settlement) Act 2017, have been entered into (Wheen and Hayward, 2012).
