Forests of Vindhya Pradesh

Abstract

The forests of Vindhya Pradesh are rich in all varieties of forest produce and are a big asset to the State. They provide 33% of the gross revenue. Most of the present revenue is from minor forest products. They are, however, capable of great development. A start has been made in the first five-year plan. Most or the development is expected in the second five-year plan when it is hoped to bring all areas under systematic management. Development of forest industries is an item of great importance. The forests also abound in wild game which provides a great attraction to the sportsmen.
