The steps taken tp deal with shifting cultivation in the past in Madhya Pradesh are briefly stated. Information regarding the work done under the recent schemes for the settlement of tribes practising shifting cultivation, the progress made and approximate expenditure incurred on different items of work are given. The important points brought out from recent experience are stated. The first scheme for Raigarh Division which was prepared by the writer and sanctioned by Government Is appended to this article.Downloads
