Nomenclature, Distribution and Phenology of Bamboos <I>Dinochloa</I> and <I>Gigantochloa</I> in Andaman & Nicobar Islands

Abstract

Paper presents with the nomenclatnre, distribution of genus Dinochloa, Gigantochloa andamanica. A new combination viz. Dinochloa scandens var. andamanica Naithani has been proposed and its gregarious flowering has been reported for the first time from South Andaman Forest Division. Gigantochloa andamanica has been observed in sporadic flowering with mortality of clumps.
