Abstract

The studies on population dynamics of Violets were conducted in different sites under natural conditions in the field. The studies revealed that in three populations of Viola, population size, ecological amplitude and life expectancy are controlled by abiotic (sites) and biotic forces (intra- and interspecific competition and grazing etc). Demographic data of the three populations suggest that vegetative propagules contributed much to maintain population size as compared to that of genet from seeds. Seasonal stimulus playa role to regulate population size of three biotypes under natural conditions.
