A New Species of Clerodendrum Linn. (Verbenaceae) from India

Abstract

It has been found that Clerodendrum lasiocephalum sensu lato is a mixture of two distirct species. While C. lasiocephalum Clarke senu stricto has bigger coppery leaves and scerlet red flowers with shorter filaments, the other species which is neW and described in the present paper as C. fischeri Naithani & Bennet has smaller leaves and white flowers with larger filaments. The former is found only in N.E. India and the latter in N E. India and Burma.
