Occurrence and Flowering of a Bamboo Dendrocalamus latiflorus Munro, in Nagaland, India

The origin of bamboo Dendrocalamus latiflorus Munro is unknown. However, it is cultivated in China, India, Taiwan, Myanmar, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Philippines. The prospects of this bamboo are very promising, especially for edible shoots production and export. It is now being reported for the first time from India. In Nagland this bamboo is commonly planted almost all the districts, and about 60% of culms were with purplish flowers.Downloads
