Cephalostachyum pergracile munro, a handsome bamboo native to Burma, Nagaland, Assam and Chota Nagpur, is recorded for the first time from Madhya Pradesh. The specimen was received from the Working Plan Officer, South Balaghat Division. Based on this collection as well as another from Kakinada. Andhra Pradesh, it is pointed out that this species is gradually extending its range of distribution in India from east to west and south-west.
