Results of trials on the suitability of bakota (Endospermum malaccenae), lambapatti (Planchonella longepetiolata), red dhup (Parishia insignis) and white dhup (Canarium euphyllum) for pencillnaking have been described. Bakota and lalmbapatti after suitable dyeing and waxing treatment have been reported by pencil factories as comparable to kuthan (Hymenodiclyon excelsum) and banati(Lophopetalum wightianum) presently used. Results of a trial with PEG-1500 as softening agent in place of paraffin wax are also described.Downloads
