Biochemical Cycling and Nutrient Conservation Strategy in some Plantations

Nutrient conservation through biochemical cycling in four plantations of sal, teak, pine and eucalypts was studied. In general, sal and teak conserved higher amount of nutrients than pine and eucalypts. The conservation of phosphorus was more than the nitrogen. Nitrogen and phosphorous conservation was more than those of other nutrients in all the plantations. The lower conservation of nutrients in eucalypts compared to the other species may cause nutrient loss from the stand through leaching/run-off during wet period, especially in well drained soils.Downloads
