Biomass Production in an Age Series of Pinus patula Plantation in Tamil Nadu

Abstract

Distribution of organic matter in differenf tree components of 3,5,9, 11 and 13 years old plantations of Pinus patula has heen discussed. The total biomass ranges from 7 tonnes (3 years) to 194 tonnes (9 years) per ha with 82 to 87 per cent being contributed by the aboveground parts and 13 to 18 per cent by root.
