A Note on the Physical and Mechanical Properties of <I>Bischofia javanica</I> (Uriam) from Banderdeva Division, Arunachal Pradesh

Abstract

Physical and Mechanical properties in green, air dry and kiln dry conditions based upon tests conducted on small clear specimens obtained from ten logs of Bischofia javanica (Uriam) from Arunachal Pradesh have been reported. The results obtained have been compared with 'Standard Teak' (from Malabar, Nilambur and Coimbatore). Suitability indices have been reported. And compared with the coresponding values of'Standard Teak'. Expected values based on specific gravity-strength relationship have also been reported for the sake of comparison.
