Abstract

Perforated ray cells are reported in 17 species belonging to the six families of the order Celastrales, viz, Celastraceae, Hippocrateaceae, Salvadoraceae, Aquifoliaceae, Jcacinaceae and Dichapetalaceae. These perforated ray cells have simple perforations in 15 species while scalariform perforation plate were observed in 2 species, viz., Ilex denticulata Wallich ex Wight, and Ilex insignis Hook.f. The perforated ray cells were found located at the end of both uniseriate as well as multiseriate rays.
