Abstract

Histochemical experiments were carried out to demonstrate the nature of the pigment in the stem of a variety of tamarind. This variety is red fruited and the pigment has anthocyanins Morphological distinctions of this variety from that of the type, Tamarindus Indica L., have been noted. Voigt designated it as a infraspeciflc taxon rhodocarpa. The omitted Latin diagnosis and the type materials have been cited.
