Abstract

The aim of the present study was to explore some ethnomedicinal herbs and their practices among the indigenous people of Ramchandrapur village Purulia district, West Bengal, India. A total of twenty herbaceous plants were documented between April 2024 and December 2025. Knowledge about medicinal plants was obtained through field trips, questionnaires, discussions and in-person interviews with the indigenous people of Purulia district. The results of this study revealed that the Zingiberaceae family was found to be the most prevalent and the most commonly used plant part was the leaves. Two plants, Catharanthus roseus (L.) G. Don and Boerhavia diffusa L., were found of the highest use value.
